PMA Praises Governor Corbett, General Assembly for Funding Roads and Bridges

The ability to safely, effectively, and efficiently move goods and people throughout our commonwealth is a core function of state government. A Third Sensible and On-Time State Budget

The good news is that the General Assembly sent Governor Corbett a $27.83 billion budget that supports record investment in education, including science, technology, engineering, and math programs and vital job training initiatives throughout the commonwealth. This is a pro-jobs budget consistent with the same successful elements Pennsylvania has seen since Governor Corbett took office, aiding in the creation of more than 125,000 private sector jobs.

Governor Corbett’s third budget proposal continues a restraint in pubic spending that over the past two years eliminated a $4.2 billion deficit without raising taxes.

“We stopped our fiscal cliff before it even had a name,” Governor Corbett said in his address before the General Assembly on February 5. “And we didn’t do it by raising taxes and increasing spending.”
