Pennsylvanians are proud to call the Commonwealth, and the community we’ve all helped create, home. Whether that means working hard, long hours, or volunteering in the community, Pennsylvanians are proud of what we do, who we are, and where we are from.

But, in any community, we’re going to have disagreements and conflicting opinions. And that’s understandable.  Most recently, we’ve seen conflicts arise from energy and energy infrastructure development in the state. 

The Fine Line Between Stakeholders and Opponents

Robert Kennedy, a pragmatic statesman and visionary, once told a crowd at the University of Pennsylvania, “One-fifth of the people are against everything all the time." Fifty years later, these words, originally laced with humor, prophetically describe a growing problem facing the Commonwealth: A small, but vocal group of environmental activists who oppose any and all real economic development in the state based on their extreme agenda of a carbon-free economy. 

Clean Power Plan Amicus Brief

The Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association and 165 other organizations filed an Amicus Brief in Federal Court in support of overturning the Clean Power Plan. PMA joined other powerhouse organizations such as: National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), The United States Chamber of Commerce, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry.

PMA Applauds High Court Decision on Obama Power Plan

The Supreme Court of the United States halted the implementation of the "Clean Power Plan" yet the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) continues to fast track a state implementation plan. The decision on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 does not permit the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to move forward with official state implementation plans related to the "Clean Power Plan." PMA testified on numerous occasions warning of this very circumstance we find ourselves in today as we stated:
